Abstract
We conducted a series of psychophysiological experiments to study the characteristics of discrete subjective scales for human estimation of time intervals from 0,03–2,97 sec range. The structure of these scales was determined. We found that the number of the scale gradations could vary from one subject to another within the range of 3–7. That is, the subjects are able to distinguish about 5 gradations from the whole range of estimated durations.

Keywords: time perception, short time intervals, subjective time scales

Column: Psychophysics
