The nature of the social cognition violations in mental disorders: how to reconcile biological and social?

Abstract

The article discusses the history, determines the stages and main debating questions in social cognition (SC) disorders' studies, analyzes the influence of social brain models and models of the spectrum of psychopathology to the studies of SC disorders. In the article the criticism of the prevailing biological approach to the problem of the SC is given. There is shown the euristic potential of cultural-historical Vygotsky's theory for solving contradictions in SC researches and multifactorial model SC (built on the basis of cultural-historical theory and included motivational and personal component) is described.
