The relationship of individual psychological characteristics of a person and the severity of subject-oriented comparisons

Abstract

In the article, contemporary points of view as well as results of an empirical study of the motives and goals of social comparison are presented. Interrelationships between such personality traits as self-confidence, anxiety, empathy, auto-evaluation, as well as the traits identified by the «Big Five» test, on the one hand, and the tendency to follow certain goals of social comparison, on the other hand, are analyzed.
