Formation of visual verbal sphere of children with mental retardation in preschool training groups

Abstract

The article presents research on development and validation of complex method of preschool training group work. The method is aimed at visual verbal functions formation at preschoolers with mental retardation and alalia. Experimental group included 6 preschoolers with mental retardation and alalia aged 6 to 7 years, members of preschool training group in the State educational facility for psychological, medical and pedagocial support for children and adolescents. Control group comprised 6 children aged 6 to 7 years with mental retardation and alalia attending preschool group of day-care centre of compensating type. Experimental group members were undergoing correctional and developing course on development of visual verbal functions. The results prove higher effectiveness of speech development work when coupled with the work on visual perception sphere. Besides, there is emphasized the necessity of individual approach, and acknowledgement of children’s particular strong and weak points defined with neuropsychological tools.
