Deviant behavior and autoaggression in juveniles with body modification

Abstract

The problem of deviant behavior during adolescence has become very relevant recently, particularly in connection with the appearance of its various new forms. In this paper, we demonstrate that one of those forms can autoagressive (self-destructive) behavior, considered within the framework of the concept of body modification. The empirical part of the study involved 35 adolescents, including 15 teenagers with at least 8 different body modifications (tattoos, piercing, etc.) and 20 adolescents with no modifications. All subjects at the time of the study were aged between 16 and 18 years. We revealed that minors with body modifications have an increased level of self-destruction and tendency to deviant behavior, as well as that this category of minors is more prone to addictive behavior, in contrast to their peers.
