Scientific and practical recommendations for the prevention of emotional burnout among judges

Abstract

The article analyzes the specifics of judicial activity involving the judicial decisions through scrupulous analysis of available alternatives based on knowledge of the law and their own experience. It is noted that the willingness to take risks in situations of uncertainty combined with the high load, as well as individual psychological characteristics of the judge can lead to the formation of emotional burnout, which in turn, can cause miscarriages of justice. Based on the study of the psychological characteristics of the decision-making process in professional activities of 41 judges from different cities of the Russian Federation (all judges are males 30-54 years old (mean age 40 years); with professional experience from 3 to 32 years (average experience 13 years)) presents research-based recommendations for the prevention of emotional burnout among judges and optimizing the professional activities of the court to prevent miscarriages of justice.
