Settings of tolerance, trust and xenophobia in youths living in the Yuzhnorossiysky region of Russia

Abstract

The article presents the results of research of the levels of tolerance, trust and xenophobia settings in senior pupils and students from different regions of Yuzhny Federal District: cities of the Russian south with prevalence of Russian population (Rostov-na-Donu, Krasnodar, Volgograd), cities of North Caucasian republics (Nazran', Makhachkala, Grozny, Vladikavkaz, Karachaevsk, Maikop) and in the capital of Kalmykia (Elista). The differences in the level of manifestation of these settings in senior pupils and students in the participant cities as well as regional differences are outlined. The research revealed rather high level of intolerance settings in the sample. The results prove the urgency of working out special interventions aimed at development of tolerance settings in the Russian youths.
