Modern Foreign Research in Creativity: The Social Psychological Aspect

3246

Abstract

The paper provides a review of modern foreign studies on social psychological aspects of creativity. It focuses on the explorations of environmental (e.g. family, culture, education and workplace environments) and situational factors that help unleash creative potential of an individual and discusses cultural aspects of concepts of creativity. Special attention is paid to the studies that explore the relationship between situations, individual differences and creativity. As it is revealed, negative situational factors (such as threats, time limits, fear of death and nostalgia) may actually have a positive impact on creativity. Also, the paper highlights the difficulties concerning the assessment of creative potential as well as of creative outcome.
