Realization of own disorder by deaf children 6-8 years of age from families with deaf and hearing parents

Abstract
Article presents results of study on realization of own deafness by children 6-8 years old from families with deaf and hearing parents. "Me in present, past and future" inventory was used, elaborated based on the Method of gender and age identification by N.L. Belopolskaya. It was shown that not many children know about their hearing possibilities in their present, past and future. Children from families with deaf parents have more realistic perception of their deficiency regarding their present and past compared to children from families with hearing parents. Capabilities of own hearing in future are unrealistically represented in all preschool deaf children and in many deaf school children, regardless of their families.
