The University as A Center of Scientific and Educational Space for the Integration of Educational Robotics in Schools

Abstract

One of the most popular and promising areas of children’s technical creativity is robotics. Along with the problems of technical equipment of schools and centers of additional education, there is a problem of a lack of qualified teachers in the field of educational robotics. To identify the interest of students of pedagogical areas of higher education in obtaining additional education in robotics, a survey was conducted using Google Forms. 185 students from six Russian universities took part in the study. The majority of respondents note the need and importance of familiarization with robotics for schoolchildren both within the framework of natural science disciplines of the school and in extracurricular additional education. Many of the respondents express their readiness to receive additional education even at the stage of studying at a university. An important factor in obtaining additional education for students is the interest on the part of educational organizations. In the 2020–21 academic year, a one-year program of professional retraining of students and teachers “Pedagogy of additional Education: Robotics” was successfully launched at Ivanovo State University and is currently being implemented on the basis of the Center for Additional Education. Mutually beneficial cooperation of universities, schools and centers of additional education is an important condition for the development of the system of continuing education and the integration of robotics into the domestic education system.
