Identification and development of gifted children and youth: the Talent Search program

Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the American program of identification and development of gifted and talented pupils, Talent Search, which represents abroad network of educational centers involved in identification and education of children on regional and national levels. It examines the testing procedure which is based on the use of so-called above-level testing and the main methods and forms of education of gifted and talented pupils which have passed the tests. Much attention in such education is paid to the optimal combination of the needs of learners and the aims of educational institutions. Basing on the analysis of modern state of the program the article identifies its strengths and weaknesses and gives a review of expressed recommendations for its further development
