The role of informal communication in self-realization in lecturers of a technical university 1062

Abstract
We analyze the advantages of informal interpersonal scientific communi-cation, its properties and functions: efficiency, selectivity, assessment, application- oriented content retrieval, informal contents transfer, feedback. We describe the results of an empirical research conducted in the Donetsk National Technical University, the aim of which was to examine the specific functions of informal interpersonal communication, which affect the activities of an individual in science and technology, and its ability to self-realization. We assumed that lecturers of technical universities with a high level of self-realization, prefer informal interpersonal scientific communication for the effective resolution of professional tasks. The study involved professionals with work experience from 5 to 40 years and above: professors, associate professors, engineers, assistants, heads of laboratories (N = 262). It is shown that the most significant components of informal communication for technical lecturers with a high level of self-realization are feedback and informal content transfer function.
