Coping strategies in adolescents with accentuation of character, prone to aggression

Abstract
We analyze statistical data concerning the level of criminal and deviant behavior in adolescents in the Russian Federation. With a focus on the mechanisms of coping with the stress, we describe approaches to studying risk factors for aggression in adolescents. We report the results of a preliminary empirical study aimed at identifying the specific coping strategies in adolescents with particular character traits who are prone to aggressive response. The authors note that as factors that increase the likelihood of aggressive response, one can considered a tendency to confrontation and unwillingness of constructive and rational problem-solving, as well as low self-control over emotional impulses. The important role in the formation of readiness to aggressive responses plays the emotion of anger and hostile perception of situations.
