Abstract
This article discusses the concept of career as being not only an official achievement in professional terms, but also as a process of self-realization, achievement of professional and life vertices (acme). The determinants of a career path are considered at different levels: personal, subjective-professional, interpersonal, managerial, organizational. The author's understanding of individual life strategy is presented. Features of the career strategies in students and civil officers are analyzed based on the outlined grounds
