Experimental Psychology (Russia) Peculiarities of subject oriented comparison related to schoolchildren with different sociometric status 1460Samoylenko E.S. Kostigova O.A. Korbut A.V. Abstract
Peculiarities of social comparison realized by schoolchildren towards their peers having different sociometric status are discussed. A new technique to identify the status of an individual as a subject oriented (social) comparison referent in a group is proposed. The results of the study aimed to identify primary and secondary schoolchildren’s preferences to use as subject oriented comparison referents their peers having a specific sociometric status are presented. It was shown that both primary and secondary schoolchildren significantly more often compare themselves with popular peers and very rarely with the rejected ones.
