The phenomenon of emotional hint is introduced as a brief emotional cue presented during problem solving which resembles insight aha-experience. The results of experiment showed that emotional hint increased the probability of correct anagram solving. Three alternative hypotheses are proposed to explain underlying mechanisms – emotion as information hypothesis, activation hypothesis and shifting to intuitive mode of thinking hypothesis, and their possible experimental verification designs are discussed.
