Evolution of the Psychotherapy 911

Kolpakova M.Yu.
PhD in Psychology, Senior Research Fellow, Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, Moscow, Russia

In the article development of psychotherapy is analyzed, the sociocultural trends that determine development of the psychological practice are traced, the consequences of wide spread occurrence of certain psychological practices are discussed, the problem of mutual interaction between culture and psychological practice is addressed. The development of the latter is determined by specific cultural and value changes and, in turn, helps to legitimize and stabilize these changes. The increase of value of the «self» and the outspread of views on «self» realization as the goal of human life is considered as one of the fundamental value changes. The dis placement of the spirituality notion out of psychology and psychotherapy is shown to lead to discipline's excessive dependence on socio-cultural, economic and political trends. We conclude that the domestic psychological practice should correspond to the foundations of the national culture.

Keywords: socio-cultural beliefs, values, psychotherapy, «self»
