Traumatic stress and its influence on subjective wellbeing and mental health: validation of the Essen trauma inventory 3733

Kholmogorova A.B., Doctor of Psychology, Professor, Head of the Laboratory of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Moscow Research Institute of Psychiatry — Branch of The Serbsky Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology, Moscow, Russia,
Gorchakova V.A.
In the present study the Essen Trauma Inventory (Tagay, Erim, Stoelk, Möllering, Mewes, Senf, 2007) has been tested on a Russian sample for the first time. Divorce, separation or quarrel with a significant other or partner (30%), death of a significant other (15.6 %), and severe illness (12.5 %) emerged to be the most severe traumatic events in the examined sample of 64 subjects. 3.1 % of participants displayed delayed reaction in the form of acute stress disorder symptoms and 12.5 % in the form of posttraumatic stress disorder. The data obtained gives evidence to the connection between remoteness of the experienced traumatic event and severity of psychopathologic symptoms.

Keywords: trauma, traumatic event, Essen Trauma Inventory, posttraumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder
