Interrelation of Degree of Intrpersonal Perception Accuracy, Type of Gender Identity and Emotional Attitude Valence Towards a Person 768
The focus of this research was to study relation of gender characteristics of inter-personal perception depending on the valence of emotional attitude towards a person. The research was carried out on 168 learners aged 15–17 years old (10–11 grades) in one Moscow comprehensive school. Leary's Test that helps to analyze interpersonal perception processes, sociometry aimed at revealing emotional relations (sympathy-antipathy) between members of the group, and the M.F. Test (Masculinity-Femininity) were administered to the research sample. Findings show that degree of interpersonal perception accuracy is determined by the type of gender identity and the valence of emotional attitude towards a person. People tend to percept those whom they dislike with less accuracy than those whom they like. This tendency can be found in all types of gender identity, though there are statistically significant differences in the degree of accuracy of perception between them.
