Psychological Science and Education Level of Mental Abilities in Students with Different Typological Characteristics of the Nervous System 960Revenko E.M. Salnikov V.A. Abstract
The research described in this paper focuses on how typological characteristics of the nervous system affect mental abilities in students. The sample consisted of 118 male firstyear students of the Siberian Automobile and Road Academy. The level of their mental abilities was measured with R. Amthauer's Intelligence Structure Test (IST) (adapted by L.A. Yasukova). Typological characteristics of the nervous system were studied using the voluntary motor techniques developed by Ye.P. Ilyin. The research findings prove that the level of mental abilities in male students varies depending on the typological characteristics of their nervous system, while individual differences in mental abilities depend not on single characteristics of the nervous system, but on the typological complex.
