Abstract
The article deals with issues of socialization of orphaned children brought up in an orphanage, and denials prevention. Particular emphasis is put on necessity of studying the issue of immature gender-role concepts and family values of children raised without parental care. The goal is to elaborate well-thought-out plan on helping to develop readiness to assume parental role in future. The article addresses the process of forming up the image (model) of the adult by a child; characteristics of this model are outlined. The importance of the presence and quality of the adult model for gender-role identification of the child is emphasized. It is hypothesized that one of the reasons of orphaned children’s socialization failure, and in particular, failure in fulfilling parental role, is depletion and distortion of their adult model. The article presents preliminary findings of a study on identifying the model for imitation, its characteristics, family representations of the orphaned children. The results are compared with those of children nurtured in family
