National program for education of gifted learners in Vietnam 765

The article presents the criteria of selection of and organization of education for gifted learners in Vietnam. It is emphasized that educational policy in this country is based on by Soviet guidelines. At the same time it is noted that the list and the content of educational courses reflect the reality of modern technological world community. The article views as a positive side the orientation toward employment of highly qualified specialists, including foreign, to conduct classes on the most relevant problems in a particular area of knowledge. As far as weaknesses of educational policy are concerned, the author mentions, first of all, absence of psychological and educational support, specialized research, preparation of staff, orientation toward academic progress as a selection criterion. At the same time it is noted that such weaknesses are to some extent compensated by the stability and consistency of efforts. It gives a hope for other significant changes in the nearest future.
