Abstract
The article presents main results of the research aimed at studying the interconnection between the level of body dissatisfaction and specifics of eating behavior among girls of adolescent and young age from non-clinical population. It also studied the influence of peers and parents on eating behavior of girls and their body attitude, for which purpose a special questionnaire was developed. Girls aged 13 to 15 (N=163) – pupils and students – took part in the research. It identified a negative correlation between the risk of eating disorders and body satisfaction (R=–0,43, p<0,00001). The highest risk of eating disorders was found among girls studying in a prestigious gymnasium with advanced study of the German language, which, according to the authors, can be related to the girls’ perfectionist career ambitions. It was proven, that existence of negative mindsets related to corpulence in the family or among peers increases the risk of eating disorders.
