Studying gender differences of aggressive behavior in adolescents 5704

Markova S.V.
senior lecturer, Moscow State University of Psychology and Education , Moscow, Russia

The contribution presents the results of a research of gender differences of aggressive behavior in adolescents studying in a general education school, in a school for adolescents with deviant behavior and in a cadet corps. Adolescents aged from 15 to 17 of both genders took part in the research. Despite statistically significant differences in certain scales, the results of the research showed, in general, insignificant gender differences in displays of aggression among adolescents of experimental groups. There are statistically significant differences in indices of intensity level of physical aggression, where boys of all age groups, without regard to the education institution factor, showed higher marks. As for the intensity level of hostility, the picture is opposite: girls showed higher marks. No gender differences were found in the process of comparing the indices of anger intensity among adolescents of these groups. In case of comparing the results between different age groups, adolescents who are 15 years old showed the highest indices. Through comparing the intensity indices of aggressive displays among adolescents of different general education institutions, data showed that such indices are minimal among adolescents studying in a general education school.
