Social Psychology and Society Social representations of leadership and subordination relationships: cross-cultural differences 1884Khukhlaev O.E. Balashova E.A. Abstract
The article describes empirical research of impact of cross-cultural differences on social representations of leadership and subordination. The sample consists of the Russians and the Tatars working in the system of public service. The following results were revealed: 1. In social representations of leadership and subordination in relationships as well as of psychological distance in the Russians and the Tatars there are both similarities and differences. 2. Components of social representations of leadership and subordination relationships and of psychological distance between a chief and a subordinate are interrelated in different cultures. 3. Social representations of leadership - subordination relationships are less sensitive to cross-cultural factors in chiefs than in subordinates.
