Social Psychology and Society Features of Intergroup and Interpersonal Mutual Perception in Adolescents and Young People of Different Statuses. Report 1. Features of Intergroup and Interpersonal Mutual Perception in High School Students of Different Statuses. 912Lisitsyn V.A. Kondratyev M.Yu. Abstract
This report presents and discusses results of the empirical research on the social psychological features of mutual assessment and mutual perception in students of 9th and 11th classes in relation to their different statuses and their belonging to any formal or informal groups. The study revealed that the character of the 'identification/confrontation' personality orientation in high school students for the most part depends on the following: first, on the status of the adolescents; second, on whether the percipients define their classmates' social position according to the latter's belonging to 'us' or 'them'. The outcomes of the study clearly indicate that the revealed social psychological features reflect the 'relationship/status-based layout' both in the 9th and 11th classes, but their manifestation is much more evident in the 9th classes because of the significantly higher level of social psychological development in this type of student community in comparison with the graduation classes.
Keywords: student groups; level of social psychological group development; 'identification/confrontation' personality orientation; integral intragroup status; high-status, middle-status and low-status students of high school. Column: Experimental Research References
