The Scientist and the School

The article reviews the book by A.A. Leontiev, D.A. Leontiev, E.E. Sokolova «Alexei Nikolayevich Leontiev. Activity. Consciousness. Personality» issued by «Smysl» in 2005. The author characterizes in detail the three parts of the book reflected in the title and shows that the book gives the systematic analysis of A.N. Leontiev's scientific work, the purpose of which is not so much to popularize his scientific approach, as to give a broad view on the situation in science and society contemporary to his age. A.N. Leontiev is depicted as a scientist, as a founder of the scientific school and of the Psychological Department at the Moscow State University, and as a person of unique and inimitable personality. The book also analyzes the existence and development of A.N. Leontiev's ideas in modern psychology.
