The psychology of catastrophe survivors (Organizational and methodological issues of the psychological assistance service)

Abstract

The paper is based on the materials of a presentation made at the conference “The present state and future perspectives of psychology in emergency” (Moscow, 17th September 2009) dedicated to the 10-year anniversary of the Centre for Urgent Psychological Assistance at the Russian Ministry for Extreme Situations. The attention is given mainly to practical issues of the psychological assistance services’ activity, based on the example of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power plant disaster.
