Abstract

The article proposes an alternative interpretation of study of encephalograms of people in the state of the Jesus Prayer, undertaken by academician V.B. Slezi. Using physiological dominance theory of A.A. Ukhtomsky with the additions of combined inhibition model by B.F. Piston, as well as using the concept of personality in psychology of B.S. Bratus, author constructs a theoretical framework. On this base author argues that the state of readiness for Jesus’ Prayer (when practically the whole brain is in a state of pessimal inhibition), is overactive on its nature, which makes the interpretation of the Jesus Prayer as a passive state wrong.
