The paper presents an approach to the solution of one of the significant problems of the contemporary cognitive psychology –the development of the psychological prerequisites of the effective computer-assisted learning. The principles of designing teaching materials for the self-access learning are substantiated, sticking to which is claimed to facilitate the formation of the learner’s cognitive structures. The results of an experimental study, which confirmed the hypothesis that accounting for the psychological regularities of knowledge acquisition, reflected in the universal cognitive structures molded in the course of the lengthy cognitive experience of humanity, can result in forming the students’ knowledge bases resembling those of the experts in the field.
