Abstract

The contribution views the notion of professional identity as a result of the process of professional identification. Stable professional identity is an integral part of professionalism and influences the orientation and efficience of labor. Against the background of changes happening in the country and in the society and affect the activity of law enforcement structures, the process of professional identification of the students - future investigators, acquires its peculiarities. We attempted to identify such peculiarities. In the course of research we identified three levels of stability of professional identity of students of investigative-criminalistic department in different periods of education. We made an assumption that the level of stability of professional identity influences the adaptation and changes in the process of education. A student who clearly identifies and internally accepts himself as a future law enforcement officer will have a higher level of adaptation to confitions of education in a higher education institution and further practical activity. The contribution describes the results of a primary research using the graphic method and the associative field.
