Relationship of cognitive distortions and personal qualities of pedophiles

Today sexual crime is one of the most widespread form of unlawful behavior. According to the data of different studies, there is a large number of persons who suffer from disorders of sexual preference among sex offenders. In the context of the specified problem pedophilia occupies a central place. The contribution examines theoretical questions and scientific studies devoted to cognitive distortions and personal qualities of persons suffering from pedophilia. It also discusses the role of different factors in the realization of pedophilic behavior. It examines the theories of formation of cognitive distortions which propose explanation model of violent behavior toward minors. The article describes the relationship between the existence of personal disorders and cognitive distortions in case of pedophilia.
