Theoretical foundations of professional development of an officer

Abstract

The contribution justifies the relevance and prospects of research of professional development of an officer. It is shown that the professional development is an important part of ontogenesis of man which covers the period from the beginning of development of professional intentions till the end of professional life. The received data shows that professional development of personality takes place throughout the whole professional life and is not limited to one or several periods. The contribution generalizes the views of different scientists on the problem of professional development. As a result of theoretical research of the problem the authors propose a stadial structure of the professional development of an officer. The whole process of the professional development permits the passing of 6 stages: 1) preinduction training; 2) potation, 3) professional education; 4) mastering the professional activity (primary and secondary professionalization); 5) mastery; 6) separation and social adaptation. It is shown that on each of these stages there are changes in the main mechanisms of determination of the professional activity of an officer, changes in the system of new formations in the personality structure, its values and aims.
