Using psychological manipulation in the activities of religious organizations on the Internet

Abstract

The article is devoted to the research of non-traditional religious organizations (NRA) on the Internet. The relevance of this topic is due to the partial displacement of activity of modern NRA worldwide network: in this context, the risk of involvement in the activities of the NRA is growing. The article examines the factors of the psychological manipulation. We performed content analysis of texts of 25 articles (3 to 19 pages long) provided by the NRA on their own Internet resources, carried out a comparative analysis of the results. We assumed that the texts of the articles in a certain way include technologies (specific methods for the gradual establishment of control over the human consciousness) of psychological manipulative influence aimed at certain targets (significant structures of human personality). These data allow to some extent to assess the extent of this phenomenon, as well as provide much information for thought and further research.
