On Cognitive Development and Emotional States of Adults and Children in New Issue of “Clinical Psychology and Special Education” Journal
The new issue of the journal “Clinical Psychology and Special Education” 2024 # 3 is published.
The theoretical research section includes two reviews. E.B. Karpova et al. describe modern research into mental and somatic symptoms of emotional burnout. R.N. Mustafin & E.A. Kaluzhniy emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to improving psychological wellbeing among patients with cancer.
The empirical research category is characterized by a variety of topics. Neuropsychological research is presented in two articles. In the work of Y.K. Smirnova, Y.E. Grigorova, and L.N. Gordeeva, the peculiarities of visual information processing in children with hearing impairments were studied. The article by N.A. Khokhlov raises the question of the contribution of interhemispheric functional asymmetry to the overall neurocognitive development level of children and adolescents.
P.A. Belimova and O.V. Zashchinskaya`s article examines the peculiarities in perceiving pictographic systems in alternative communication among adolescents with intellectual disabilities.
Foreign colleagues studied socio-demographic factors that influence the formation of beliefs about scientific knowledge and its nature, methods of acquisition, significance for society, and other aspects in gifted adolescents (I. Ugulu, E. Kivrak, and E. Akcicek).
The difficult topic of adolescent suicidal behavior is discussed in the article by N.A. Polskaya, D.K. Yakubovskaya, D.A. Sharova, A.Ya. Basova. A qualitative analysis of interviews allowed the authors to identify interpersonal vulnerability and psychological distress caused by dissatisfaction with relationships as key characteristics of adolescents' suicides.
The work by Yu.P. Zamyshlyaeva and Yu.E. Kurtanova focuses on the impact of child-parent relationships on the emotional state of children undergoing long-term cancer treatment.
In a study conducted by M.V. Alfimova, V.V. Plakunova, and V.E. Golimbet, patterns of memorizing test material specific to people with schizophrenia were shown on a large sample.
The subject of the study conducted by M.V. Nael-Prupes, O.A. Kharkova, A.G. Soloviev, and S.S. Nefedova was the emotional state of women during different stages of pregnancy and after childbirth. Longitudinal studies have shown that postpartum depression occurs in women who experience signs of depression at the onset of pregnancy.
A.M. Bogachev, Yu.A. Vysotskaya, T.G. Vintoniuk show the psychological effects of post-traumatic stress disorders in civilians in the region affected by local military operations, using the example of Mariupol.
The section on applied research is completed with one article by A.A. Shvedovskaya, I.F. Roshchina, M.V. Kalantarova, and A.I. Khromov, who present the process and outcomes of adapting a cognitive stimulation therapy program for elderly individuals with cognitive impairments.
