"Cultural-Historical Psychology": MSUPE Congratulates the Journal on Its 20th Anniversary

"I would even agree to live for a few more decades — and I am already approaching 80 — just to see what kind of psychology you will create by the middle of the 21st century."
Vladimir Petrovich Zinchenko
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the journal Cultural-Historical Psychology. The journal is dedicated to fostering the development of cultural-historical psychology within the global psychological community. It serves as a platform enabling both Russian and international scholars to learn about the theory, methodology, and practical application of the cultural-historical approach across various fields of psychology, education, and social life. The journal is published by the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE).
From its inception, one of the journal’s primary goals has been to attract and support early-career researchers in the field of cultural-historical psychology. In collaboration with the ISCAR International Summer University for PhD students and early-career researchers, the journal has, for many years, offered young scholars the opportunity to receive expert feedback on the design of their research projects.
The idea to establish the journal originated with Vladimir Zinchenko, Vitaly Rubtsov, Arkady Margolis, Boris Meshcheryakov, and Vladimir Munipov.
The journal’s Editors-in-Chief have included Vladimir Petrovich Zinchenko (2005–2014) and Boris Danilovich Elkonin (2014–2023). As of 2024, the position is held by Vitaly Vladimirovich Rubtsov.
The first issue of the journal, published in 2005, included an address to the authors and readers, in which the founding editors reflected on the origins and initial concept of the journal: Introductory Remarks.
We would like to extend our congratulations to all those who have contributed to the journal over the years, and we wish Cultural-Historical Psychology inspiring authors, engaged readers, and new breakthroughs and achievements in the future!
