The Russian law on education is discussed on the Net

The project of the new Russian Federal law “On Education” is being discussed at www.zakonoproekt2010.ru. Everyone can register at the site and make his / her comments (but only in Russian).

The document suggests modernization of all the stages of education in Russia. There are some disputable statements. For instance, compulsory preschool preparation – this sphere is well-developed in Russia but parents decide if they want their children to attend preschool facilities or not. Compulsory education implies rather strict norms and standards though learning in preschoolers takes place in the course of play as their leading activity.

The public debates will finish on February, 1^st 2010. The draft will be worked up in the light of suggestions made and then introduced to the Government.
