Russia ranked 16th in the sphere of scientific publications by SCImago Lab

Spanish research centre SCImago Lab has updated ranking of scientific journals from different countries for 2009. Its ranking calculation base now consists of 18732 scientific journals and the other sources contaning more than 21 billion of publications.

Russia is has moved to the 16th place in terms of accumulated amount of publications (compared to the 15th place in 2009). In terms of average number of references per publication in 1996–2009 Russia is at the 77th place.

According to the project of innovative strategy of Russian Federation development the proportion of Russian scientific publications is to increase from 2,5 % to 5 % by 2020 basing on Web of Science rating.
