Milgram’s Experiment: Is it Worth to Multiply the Entities? Notes about the Article V.N. Pavlenko “S. Milgram’s Experiment through the Lens of Historical Psychology” (Social Psychology and Society, 2019. Vol. 10, no. 3, рр. 5—18) 269

Semechkin N.I.
PhD in Philosophy, Professor, Department of Psychology and Educationat at School of Arts and Humanities, Far Eastern Federal University, Vladivostok, Russia

The article V.N. Pavlenko “S. Milgram’s experiment through the lens of historical psychology” is one of the few attempts in the “post-Soviet space” of sincere and impartial analysis and understanding of american classical socio-psychological research. For this reason, the author’s work deserves attention and respect. At the same time because of logical and methodological miscalculations the article of V. Pavlenko, in my opinion, cannot be classified as successful. Why? About this in the “notes” below.

Keywords: Milgram’s experiment, logic, methodology, reduction, social psychology, principle/law of sufficient foundation

Column: Discussions and Disputations
