PhD diploma of the Scientific Research Institute of General and Pedagogical Psychology under the Academy of Psychological Science of the USSR (the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education).
In 1983, defended PhD thesis on child and pedagogical psychology.
In 2002, defended PhD thesis on development psychology. Teacher of mathematics in the Irkutsk State University, East Siberian Technological Institute, Ulan-Ude.
Since 1986, he is the head of department on scientific and methodological issues and museum pedagogy in the State Tretyakov Gallery. Since 1993, he has been teaching in the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education.
Due to participation in developing a range of scientific projects , V.A. Guruzhapov together with the other members of the team headed by V.V. Rubtsov, was granted the RF President prize within the sphere of education in 1998.
