Research on Neuropsychological Profile of Children with Specific Speech Disorders

Abstract

The aim of the research was to prove the assumption that children who have difficulties with understanding passive and prepositional constructions also have a low level of visual-spatial functions development. Children with specific speech disorders and control group children aged 7-8 years were studied using children's neuropsychological technique aimed at assessing various mental functions. The results for 8 tests out of 15 were obviously worse in children with speech disorders than that of control group children, including all 4 tests on visual-spatial functions. It is therefore concluded that children with specific difficulties in understanding logical and grammatical constructions have an insufficient level of simultaneous mechanism development in brain activity.
