857

Abstract

The author recollects his discussions with Vladimir Petrovich Zinchenko on the issues of the psychology of thought. He focuses on different approaches as to what thought really is and how it is connected with the word of G.G. Shpet and L.S. Vygotsky who were the primary subjects of that very discussion. The paper presents both the point of view of Vladimir Zinchenko and that of the author's. Quotations from the works by Vladimir Zinchenko provided in the paper highlight the great intellectual power of his insights into the dis- cussed problems, the wit of his polemic speech, and the freedom and independence of his thought.
