Phenomenology in psychology and psychotherapy: clearing of vague experiences

Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis and development of phenomenology ideas in psychology and psychotherapy. The short review of phenomenological psychology formation and modern lines of its working out is given. In the article the analysis of the E. Husserl experience concept and E.T. Gendlin's psychotherapeutic concept is presented. In this concepts the problem of vague «preconceptual» experiences, corporal «felt sense», a straight line reference, symbolization and changes of experiences is discussed. The special attention is given to the description of a psychotherapeutic method of «focusing», its bases, principles and steps. Distinction of descriptive and interpretive phenomenology and distinction of descriptive and interpretive approaches to work with experiences in a number of modern directions of psychotherapy is spent.
