Evaluation of psychological peculiarities of a person based on the image of his face by representatives of different racial groups

Abstract

The study of the different characteristics of social perception, patterns and dynamics of interpersonal perception is one of the most actual research task of social and cognitive sciences and regards to the problem of allocation of essential features, on the basis of which the evaluation and knowing the other person can be performed; these features include both general social-biological characteristics - gender, age, ethnicity, and individual characteristics. The article presents the results of research devoted to the study of the peculiarities of assessment of individual psychological characteristics of the representatives of Caucasoid and Mongoloid racial groups. The results of the study of two groups of subjects of different race, held in Moscow and Kyzyl (Republic of Tuva), have shown that race is one of the important factors of interpersonal perception, recognition and assessment of essential features, traits and qualities of another person, including assessment of his individual psychological characteristics; the time of perception does not significantly affect the adequacy of interpersonal evaluation.
