Abstract

In the context of the art΄s works of I. S. Turgenev and his epistolary heritage, the issue of preserving the historical memory of the Russian people, its connection with the national language and what is now called ethnic gene pool is a common thread. This is directly convincing to us by the specially allocated series of poems in prose, especially such ones as «Prayer», «Russian Language», «Sphinx». The writer΄s ability to complete historical time, the ability to dive into depths of the life of national element allows him to relate the beginning of Russian civilization to that era from us, which belonged to building the first, most impressive pyramids in Egypt, the Sphinx statue.
