Abstract

Context and relevance. This study is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of language and communication used in student volunteer movements, which is due to the increasing role of volunteerism in modern society and the need for a deep understanding of the factors determining the effectiveness of interpersonal interaction and information exchange in this specific environment. Objective. The purpose of this work is to identify the specific characteristics of language and communication strategies used in student volunteer movements, as well as to establish their impact on the formation of group identity, increasing social cohesion, and achieving the goals of volunteer activities. Hypothesis. The study hypothesizes that language and communication in student volunteer movements are characterized by the use of specific vocabulary and rhetoric, as well as the use of specific communication channels, which together contribute to the formation of a unique group identity, the maintenance of social activity among participants, and the achievement of common goals in volunteer activities. Methods and materials. The study was conducted on the basis of five student volunteer organizations operating in the city of Moscow. The study involved 130 volunteer students, including an equal number of girls and boys (65 of each gender) aged 18 to 25. The following methods were used in the study: participant questionnaires, content analysis of information and communication materials posted on social networks, semi-structured interviews with leaders of volunteer organizations, and statistical data processing methods, including Student's t-test and correlation analysis to identify significant relationships between variables. Results. The study identified the features and specifics of the lexical composition, rhetorical techniques, and communication channels used by student volunteer movements. It established a statistically significant relationship between specific communication characteristics, the level of group cohesion among volunteers, and their satisfaction with volunteer activities. The study revealed a predominance of an informal communication style characterized by the use of colloquial language, humor, and slang, as well as the active use of visual communication tools and social media platforms for interaction and information sharing. Conclusions. The results of the conducted research indicate that language and communication play a significant role in the processes of forming and maintaining group identity, increasing the level of motivation among participants, and ensuring the effectiveness of student volunteer movements. The findings and results can be used to develop practical recommendations and methodological materials aimed at optimizing the communication strategy of volunteer organizations in order to increase their effectiveness, attract new participants, and strengthen social cohesion in the volunteer environment.
