Abstract

Context and relevance. Cyberbullying is a serious issue in the student environment, negatively impacting mental health and social well-being. With the widespread use of online platforms and social media, understanding the linguistic aspects of cyberbullying has become crucial. Objective. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the linguistic characteristics of cyberbullying used by students in online communication, as well as to assess their impact on the perception and consequences for victims. Hypothesis. It is believed that the use of certain language strategies, such as insults, humiliation, threats, and the spread of negative information, significantly increases the likelihood of an action being perceived as cyberbullying and negatively affects the victim's emotional state. Methods and materials. The study used the content analysis method of text messages and social media posts, as well as the questionnaire method to assess the perception and emotional reactions of students. The sample consisted of 150 students from the Faculty of Social Communication at MGPPU. Results. Data analysis revealed the prevalence of certain language strategies, such as insults and spreading gossip, in cases identified by students as cyberbullying. A link was found between the use of certain language strategies and negative emotional reactions in victims. Conclusions. The research results allow us to identify key linguistic markers of cyberbullying and develop recommendations for preventing and countering this phenomenon among students.
