About mathematical preparation of students of "humanities"
Abstract
Context and relevance. The article summarizes the experience of teaching mathematics to students of humanities and management from the perspective of a systematic approach to the content and organization of the educational process. The accents in work programs, forms and methods of teaching are considered. Objective. To analyze the influence of the socio-cultural environment and information technologies on the formation of students' educational preferences (primarily in teaching mathematical disciplines). Hypothesis. In modern conditions, which stimulate the growing need of students for flexibility, variability of teaching and support for their creative individuality, it is necessary to adapt pedagogical approaches (including teaching disciplines such as mathematics) to the new requirements of the educational environment. Methods and materials. The study involved 668 students from four universities (RANEPA, MSUPE, RSUH, Academy of Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs), of which 246 students underwent diagnostics in 2024, and 422 students in 2018. The study was carried out using the "Educational needs of students" methodology. The theoretical and methodological basis of the methodology is a dynamic model of the situational cycle of a student's personality-developing interaction with the educational environment. Results. The results of a comparative analysis of changes in student preferences in 2018 and 2024 in relation to types of professional activities and behavioral patterns of teachers show significant changes in students' educational preferences in terms of flexibility, adaptability of teaching and support for students' creative individuality. Conclusions. In modern conditions, there is an urgent need to adapt pedagogical approaches (including teaching disciplines such as mathematics) to the new requirements of the educational environment. However, the data also indicate that it is premature to completely abandon traditional teaching models. Rather, they need to be synthesized with innovative approaches aimed at developing creative thinking, collaboration and self-regulation, which is especially important in the context of the digital transformation of education.
