Life Strategies in Women Living in Russian Provinces

The article describes results of an empirical research in which 500 women aged 1765 years living in the Russian provinces participated. The research was based on the concept that women's life strategies constitute a basis for their personality development and contribute to the construction of their 'personal world' that includes life values and attitudes. The main, or basic, strategies are: wife's strategy, mother's strategy, public production worker's strategy, and social individual's strategy. The results obtained with 9 diagnostic techniques were compared by age (the subjects formed 3 age groups), by family status and by education. The women's attitudes towards marriage, children, professional activity, social and political life were analysed in these three age groups as well.
