Effect of Music Lessons on Spatial and Kinetic Functionstions Development in Early School-Age Children

Abstract

The article analyses factors influencing higher mental functions development in early schoolage children. It shows the role of musical activity in stimulating one's mental activity and developing his/her speech and memory. Psychophysiological data on the effects of music lessons on brain structures development are presented as well. It is known that kinetic and spatial functions play an essential role in a child's successful learning at school; this research has experimentally proved the positive effect of music lessons (by the example of piano and flute lessons) on the development of these functions.
